The drive to the rear wheels of the mower is shaft rather than belt driven, which is more positive and heavy duty than the belt alternative. The blade brake clutch feature on the 448HW disengages the blade from the engine, thus protecting the crankshaft. This enables the grass catcher to be emptied without restarting the engine and allows the mower to be moved to a different place using the self-propulsion but with the blade stopped.

The mower deck is constructed of heavy duty alloy which, because it is rust proof, obviously adds to the long life of the machine. This lawn mower has four wheels, which makes it suitable for keeping lawns and rougher areas tidy.
